The Ceremony

A few hours ago I logged onto email to find very exciting news - the board at Liberty Presbyterian met last week and approved Zach & I to be married in their church! We are so excited!

Liberty is affectionately referred to as "The Barn". In 1993, when they had outgrown the old church building, the congregation agreed to build the biggest authentic "barn" in the country, securing legendary Amish barn builder, Josie Miller, to help duplicate the construction of the original church. It was completed in 2005, and seats 1000. The beams measure 14-16 inches and are secured with pegs which were given to the congregation to sign. The floor is hickory, the benches are cherry, and the siding is hemlock. The pulpit is a 300 year old oak that was struck by lightning and carved by artist Robert Feuge.

Weeks ago, in our search to find a church, Zach mentioned that prior to us meeting 2 years ago, he had said if he was ever married, he wanted his wedding to be at Liberty. His late grandfather had always loved the simplicity of the Amish life; he thought his grandfather would be 'pleased' we were married in the Barn.

  1. It's gorgeous, I love it! So glad you were approved, and I think it is very cool that it has some special meaning for Zach.

It will be great for pictures!!!
